What's the difference between the DCMA-4k Plus and the DCMA-4000?
The difference is the receiver. Both kits use the same DCMT-4000 sensor, but the DCMA-4000 includes the DCR-4000 receiver. The DCR-4000 will play a chime/tune when the sensor is activated. The receiver will only give a sound, there are no additional outputs.
The DCMA-4k Plus includes the RE-4k Plus receiver. The RE-4k Plus will play a chime/tune when the sensor is activated but there are also two Form C (NO/NC) relay outputs as well as a 12 VDC output. The outputs can be set to activate for 1, 5, 15 seconds or 5 minutes when the sensor is activated. The outputs could be used to connect to a home automation panel or the 12 VDC could be used to power a bell or strobe light.
Why would I choose a motion sensor over a probe?
The DCMT-4000 is a passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor that can detect people or vehicles. The PIR sensor can be mounted on a post or tree to monitor for people or vehicles up to 80 to 100 feet away. The sensor is easy to install and is powered by one 9-volt battery. The sensor can be used to monitor driveways, backyards, tool sheds, etc. Anywhere you want to monitor for a car driving or a person walking.
